The Awards

Why Apply

Have you always wanted to do a 360-degree review of your organization’s management practices, but haven’t had the time? We can help! Applicants get expert feedback and coaching on management practices in addition to access to NPCC education and training workshops. Through this learning opportunity, you can evaluate your management and get the tools you need for growth and improvement.

A total of $50,000 will be awarded to nine organizations: $10,000 for Overall Management Excellence, and eight $5,000 Awards for the nonprofit with the most outstanding management practices for each of the Eight Key Areas of Nonprofit Excellence. It will be possible for one organization to win in one or more categories, although our ultimate goal is to recognize as many nonprofits as possible.

Winning organizations may also receive scholarships towards tuition at the Columbia Business School Executive Education Programs in Social Enterprise. NPCC's inaugural Best Nonprofit Conference and The New York Community Trust Nonprofit Excellence Awards will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the Faculty House at Columbia University, which will feature experts, applicants, and winners sharing management strengths and strategies identified through the selection process.

Additional Benefit to Applying

After each stage of the selection process, applicants may request follow-up feedback on their applications, including summaries of the expert Selection Committee's comments about the applicant's management strengths and weaknesses.

A comment from a past participant:

We get a lot out of the feedback. It brings our organization together to discuss, reflect and evaluate at a high level.
