ABOUT QUALITAS OF LIFE FOUNDATION

 

Qualitas of Life Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides basic financial education to Hispanic individuals and their families in the New York City region in order to foster their financial security and improve their standard of living. Qualitas offers a community-based program for Hispanic individual and families throughout New York City and State, and key sites in New Jersey and Connecticut, and has benefited over 25,000 individuals since its foundation in 2007. The annual budget of the organization is USD $750,000 and it is staffed by 6 full-time employees and 25 part-time facilitators.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Qualitas is seeking for a proven, successful and proactive Development Manager with experience in fundraising and grant writing opportunities during an exciting period of growth. The Development Manager will work in close collaboration with the Executive Director and Program collaborators in order to ensure the pursuit of funding opportunities aligned with the strategic direction and objectives of the organization. This position is in charge of the leadership on our overall fundraising strategy, and for directing and implementing it in ways that leverage, enhance and respect Qualitas’ collaborative, team-building culture. The Development Manager will execute fundraising sourcing, researching, writing, managing and reporting on foundation, corporate, government and other grant opportunities. The person will also lead networking practices and build on key relationships for Qualitas.

 

 

She/he is responsible for:

    • Conducting the full range of activities required to identify, prepare, write, consolidate, submit, and manage grant proposals and funding opportunities.

    • Writing letters of inquiry, applications, progress reports, acknowledgment letters, questions and other forms of correspondence to prospective and renewing foundations, corporations and government agencies to ensure organizational program funding.

    • Keeping track of and updating the funding opportunities and donors database, including grant tracking and reporting.

    • Collaborating with key staff members to complete grants/RFPs and ensure the funders’ requirements are met.

    • Leading program collaborators in the coordination of grants and proposals in a timely manner, making sure deadlines are met in advance.

    • Gathering and preparing materials to accompany grants, including needs analysis, goals, objectives, outcome data, timelines, budget narrative, and evaluation data.

    • Creating periodical reports for the Executive Director, Fundraising Committee, board members and program collaborators.

    • Leading and conducting research in order to support the development of materials on the conditions of the Hispanic immigrant population in the United States as needed.

    • Understanding the organization mission and programs.

    • Assisting with other fundraising projects as requested.

    • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, knowledge, and skills:

    • BA/BS College degree and 2-5 years of fundraising and grant writing experience.

    • A strong understanding of nonprofits and nonprofit development.

    • Excellent oral and written fluency in English and high proficiency in Spanish required.

    • Particularly Affinity with the Hispanic population in this region of the country.

    • Demonstrated ability to craft funding proposals in a clear and compelling manner.

    • Excellent persuasive writing, analytical, and research skills.

    • Strong editing skills.

    • Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with strong planning and organizational skills.

    • A solid understanding of budgets as they relate to proposals and grants.

    • Ability to meet deadlines.

    • Knowledge of national and international funding opportunities is a plus.

    • Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research.

    • Able to work well independently as well as collaboratively and be self-motivated in a team environment.

    • Able to monitor and meet income goals.

    • Ability to operate efficiently and gracefully under pressure and willingness to work a flexible schedule sometimes.

    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Drive, Asana and Salesforce.
