Retirement Program for NPCC 501(c)(3) Members

Nationwide offers ERISA 403(b) and/or 401(k) retirement plans. These plans are available to all NPCC 501(c)(3) members and offer discounted pricing for nearly all sizes and types of nonprofits (meeting certain first year minimum balance requirements). The Nationwide program is a mutual fund platform featuring more than 1,200 funds from multiple fund families.

For a comprehensive transfer of Plan Sponsor fiduciary liability for investment related issues, Nationwide provides access to a solution through its relationship with IRON Financial. IRON Financial is an independent 3(38) Centre for Fiduciary Excellence (CEFEX) certified investment manager that selects and monitors investment option decisions through its ERISA 3(38) Fiduciary services. This allows an organization to transfer all of its responsibility and legal liability for selecting, monitoring and replacement of plan investments. With IRON Financial’s 3(38) services, the plan sponsor’s responsibility is shifted to simply monitoring the assigned 3(38) Fiduciary, IRON Financial.

In addition to the program with Nationwide, NPCC offers two separate ERISA 3(16) fiduciary services, one through Pentegra and another through 401K SAFE.

Pentegra, a 3(16) operational fiduciary service provider, offers members the opportunity to outsource the administration of their retirement plans. Pentegra can oversee the operational functions of your organization’s retirement plan. They will also be the named plan administrator, and will be responsible for completing, signing and filing the annual IRS Form 5500. They also manage and oversee all administrative functions including the servicing of plan provisions, participant communication, and administration for all eligible employees, whether active or terminated.

401K SAFE, a 3(16) operational fiduciary service provider, offers members the opportunity to outsource the compliance administration of their retirement plans. 401K SAFE oversees the operational functions of your organization’s retirement plan and conducts the fiduciary monitoring of the plan’s service providers. They will also be the named plan administrator, and will be responsible for completing, signing and filing the annual IRS Form 5500. All plan related documentation, including the Form 5500, participant notices, service agreements, and 401K SAFE’s fiduciary reviews are managed and housed by 401K SAFE on a portal site customized to your plan. They also manage and oversee all administrative functions including: the servicing of plan provisions, participant communication, and administration for all eligible employees, whether active or terminated.

These services are offered to NPCC’s 501(c)(3) members at a reduced cost.
