NPCC’s SkillsBuilders training and support programs are designed to transfer practical management skills to leaders of small and mid-sized nonprofits and to track measurable improvements in the participating organizations. It makes available practical training and support by top providers in management areas such as marketing and communications, financial management and outcome management at greatly reduced cost. Three pilot programs have launched: Managing for Results: Outcomes Management for Smaller Nonprofits, Basic Finances, and Basic Fundraising for Smaller Nonprofits. SkillsBuilders offers intensive training and support in nonprofit management areas where these services are not affordable or appropriately structured for small and mid-sized organizations. The goal is to develop low-cost strategies that help managers build stronger organizations. Results of the training and support provided are tracked as part of the program. The Nonprofit Excellence Awards

The Nonprofit Excellence Awards are presented by NPCC, The New York Community Trust and Philanthropy New York, sponsored by New York Magazine and WNYC. The Awards illuminate the difficult and complex elements of successful management that enable nonprofits to excel at their missions, and by doing so, recognize the enormously important roles played by thousands of New York’s nonprofits in improving our lives and communities. Now in its seventh year, the program is designed to teach, recognize and encourage outstanding management practices among New York’s large and diverse nonprofit community. The program helps nonprofit leaders by spotlighting excellent management practices that enable nonprofits to better serve their communities and achieve their missions. This is an opportunity for an organization to tell all New Yorkers — and the world — what its organization accomplishes. All 501(c)(3) nonprofits based in the New York City, Long Island and Westchester County are eligible to apply. Read more at or
